Proposal for WCP2026 satellite meeting

Call for Satellite Meeting Proposals Now Open

In addition to the WCP2026 program, satellite meetings may be held prior to commencement (e.g. Friday 10th and Saturday 11th July) or after the conclusion (from 4pm Friday 17th July) of the Congress.

A satellite meeting is a workshop or small, topically focused regional meeting held independently of WCP2026. It is defined based on its location, timing, and overlap with the intended audience for WCP2026. Satellite meetings should enhance WCP2026 and introduce or expand on the scientific content covered in the Congress. Satellite meetings may be open to anyone to attend and not restricted to registered congress delegates.

The WCP2026 Leadership Committee will review all satellite meeting applications. Only those considered to align with the congress will be approved and listed on the congress website.

Satellite meetings must be self-funded and independently managed, including but not limited to venue, audio visual, speakers, catering if required and delegate registration.

The congress organisers are not responsible for organising and promoting your satellite meeting to a broader audience. For maximum exposure of your satellite meeting to WCP2026 delegates, we encourage early application to align with abstract submission and early bird registration deadlines (14 Sep 2025 and 1 Apr 2026 respectively).

To apply, complete the details below and return via email to wcp2026@expertevents.com.au for consideration by the WCP2026 Congress Leadership Group. If approved, you may be requested to provide additional information such as website URL, registration links etc.

Confirmed satellite meetings

12th Pharmacology of G Protein-Coupled Receptors & Molecular Pharmacology of GPCRs (MPGPCR) Joint Satellite Meeting

The first Pharmacology of Adrenoceptors Symposium was held in 1978 in Manchester, UK, following the 7th International Congress of Pharmacology in Paris. The satellite meeting was arranged in response to the ‘explosion of information on adrenoceptors’ that occurred in the late 1970s, and has been held alongside the IUPHAR/World Congress of Pharmacology in different guises since then.

While adrenoceptors have long served as prototypical G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs), the continued ‘explosion of information’ has truly extended beyond this receptor family. As such, the 12th iteration of this Satellite Meeting will be more aptly re-named ‘Pharmacology of GPCRs’, and will be held as a joint meeting with the flagship southern hemisphere GPCR conference, Molecular Pharmacology of GPCRs (MPGPCR), stewarded by expert pharmacologists from Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences.

The Joint Satellite will showcase the latest in molecular pharmacology of GPCRs over two and a half days in downtown Melbourne, a short stroll from the Melbourne Convention Centre. The program will include multiple keynote presentations, invited speakers from around the globe working at the cutting edge of GPCR research, and multiple opportunities for EMCR/HDR presentations and engagement. We expect the MPGPCR tradition of Flash 1-min Poster Presentations to once again be a highlight of the meeting – the perfect launch for an interactive poster evening. Student prizes will be available.

Consistent with EDI policies of both WCP2026 and MPGPCR, the program will be assembled with a commitment to maintaining diversity in terms of gender, country, career stage, and professional background. The 12th Pharmacology of GPCRs and MPGPCR Joint Satellite will also implement the recommendations of the ASCEPT Sustainability Policy with respect to venue selection, catering, recycling and waste; for example, recyclable bamboo delegate badges, compostable food packaging, use of digital programs and asking our sponsors to avoid single-use items on trade displays.

7th WCP IUPHAR Education Section Satellite

The Education Satellite is a two-day international meeting held ahead of the World Congress of Pharmacology (WCP2026). It brings together pharmacology educators, researchers, and curriculum leaders from across the globe to share innovations, challenges, and best practices in pharmacology and therapeutics education. Sessions will include oral presentations, posters and interactive workshops, focusing on key themes such as curriculum design, assessment, inclusion, technology-enhanced learning, and core concept-based education. The satellite provides a welcoming and collaborative space to connect with global colleagues and shape the future of pharmacology education. A report from the previous meeting is here: https://www.bps.ac.uk/publishing/pharmacology-matters/september-2023/putting-pharmacology-education-on-the-map

Monash University Parkville Campus, Melbourne, Australia.
